The Clinical Co-ordinators for the various different aspects of ultrasound will audit the service being provided, evaluate the quality and service provision of diagnostic ultrasound , by gathering data on the quality of service offered, following the data being analysed and interpreted, any improvements are agreed and implemented.
Everyone within Ultrasound has designated tasks to undertake – see staff flow chart.
- this includes in-house training and various study days. Any staff training will be adequately supervised and instructed at all times.
Whenever possible staff are encouraged to attend study days. This gives an opportunity to undertake and to develop CPD,encouraging knowledge and practice development within the department.
On a regular basis staff can go on any study days that are relevant to the department, they can then come back and pass the information on to the rest of the department and therefore enable everyone to develop their knowledge, improve our practice and keep up to date with the latest ultrasound techniques.
All new staff members undergo an induction and orientation course, run by the Trust over a week .
Trained and untrained staff will receive on-going training based on individual needs, to ensure that at least one member of staff attends any study days that benefit he department – we have set-up an Ultrasound Endowment Fund for study days into which each member pays. The money is used to help towards the funding of these days.
We try to arrange these on a regular basis varying the day so as many people as possible can attend.
Everyone involved with Ultrasound is welcome at these meetings, where we discuss relevant issues and monitor standards that have been set-up.
The end result is to enable the department to progress, run efficiently and discuss new ideas. The regular meetings promote effective communication and relationships within the department.
They also help establish and agree work objectives, to enable us to plan, allocate resources to achieve work objectives and evaluate the service we provide. It also enables us to make sure we maintain a healthy and safe working environment for all concerned.
