The post holder will be responsible for the day to day running of the ultrasound room in which they are working and to carry out the clinical caseload therein.
This is a rotational post requiring the post holder to continually revise, review and monitor the ultrasound workload so as to meet the needs of each service user of the ultrasound department.
The NHS is undergoing a number of changes both nationally and locally and the post holder should be aware of these, He/she should be prepared to react to these changes in a positive and adaptable way.
The post holder will be responsible for :-
- Maintaining high standards of professionalism and personal conduct in the department.
- The daily running of the ultrasound room in which they are working. Maintaining accurate patient records both manually and on the computer with regards to appointments, statistics and reporting.
- Directing the duties of professional, technical, nursing and clerical staff and their allocation and rotation within the ultrasound department in conjunction with the ultrasound superintendent.
- The training of Radiographic, x-ray assistants and nursing staff on ultrasound matters
- Liasing with the Radiologists in respect of special examinations and for the supervision of all specialised techniques. To be involved in the implementation and maintenance of the Radiographic Quality Assurance programme across the range of ultrasound equipment.
- Assisting the Radiology Service Manager to report and investigate complaints, incidents, accidents or grievances in accordance with the Trust policy.
- Being aware of and understanding the legal responsibilities in relation to Trust policy and procedures with particular reference to:-
Patients Charter
Registration with the CPSM
Patients property
Attendance at fire lectures
Ensure safe working conditions throughout the department
Report any hazards or accidents to the appropriate safety officers
Report all equipment malfunctions using agreed local procedures.
