Registration requirements for overseas doctors

European Economic Area (EEA) and non-European Economic Area (non-EEA)
If you are a doctor wishing to practice medicine in the UK, you are required to register with the General Medical Council before engaging in employment or training there. Registration grants prospective doctors the legal status necessary to carry out professional duties.
There are three types of registration: full, provisional, and limited. The General Medical Council plays no part in obtaining employment for doctors. It is advised that the Council be contacted for further information well before the intended date of travel to Britain.
